Planning session

What is it?

It is a kind of simulation of what will happen during the radiotherapy treatment.

During the planning session:

  • The radiology team takes measurements to accurately determine where the radiation should be directed, as well as the angles and dosage of the radiation beam(s);
  • With a permanent pen, or using tiny tattooed dots, the technician will mark the body area to be bombarded by the radiation;
  • In the following sessions, beans of normal light are used to position the machine correctly, so the radiations beams remain on the tumor
