New Strategies

In addition to those therapeutic strategies currently being used, researchers around the world have not stopped looking for more effective ones, with increased survival rates and fewer side effects.

Several lines of research are being pursued, some already at clinical trial level.

The most promising ones are those targeting genes – such as gene therapy - proteins – as in proteomics of cancer – and the immune system - immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is particularly exciting at the moment, especially where it concerns the development of cancer vaccines.
