Most common cancers

Mot breast cancers are carcinomas.

A carcinoma is a cancer that develops from cells of the epithelium (the protective tissue lining the inner and outer surface of organs or structures). 

Breast cancer normally develops in the cells that protect/cover the ducts, or the mammary lobules.

Ductal and lobular carcinomas can be invasive (that move, invading other tissues) or in situ(localized or non-invasive) :


Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC)

80% of all diagnosed breast cancer cases.

Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC)

10% of all diagnosed breast cancer cases.

Invasive ductal carcinoma or IDC is the most common type of breast cancer, 80% of all breast cancers are IDC.


OTHER TYPES OF BREAST CANCER:

Inflammatory breast cancer

1-3% of all diagnosed cases.

Paget’s disease

1% of all diagnosed cases.

Triple negative cancer

15-20% of all diagnose cases.
