What happens during a family risk appointment?

Despite being about familial risk, the appointment at the genetic clinic is an individual consultation for whoever asked for it (whether the person is healthy or ill).

The appointment is in stages, and through each of them, the familial cancer risk and the person's risk is increasingly understood.

If at any point in the process, the doctor concludes that your cancer risk is the same as that of the average population, you will be sent back to your family doctor.
